About
Hommage à Heifetz – is a project organised in commemoriation of famous Litvak violinist virtuoso Jascha Heifetz. It is also meant to honor the old Vilnius culture and litvaks by engaging with the audience in various cultural activities that will be held in Vilnius in February of 2017.
The set of events held in Lithuania is a part of another bigger project that involves 8 partners from various European countries and is co-financed by European Union. Partner responsible for coordination of all the project activities is EMCY – European Union of Music Competitions for Youth.
Hommage a Heifetz is an event organised by Lithuanian partner PI Natų knygynas. EMCY coincides within the organising by providing contacts of European laureates and by sharing it's valuable experience, also by information dissemination.
During Hommage à Heifetz a unique space called "Heifetz lounge" will be presented. For this items from Old Vilnius and also pictures of Old Vilnius will be used (from the times when Jascha Heifetz lived in Vilnius). The created space will be used for aceactive discussions on interesting topics about audience building, ethnical minorities interactive engagement with society and adjustment.
The culmination of the project will be – the V International Jascha Heifetz Competition.
